Complainant apparently thought the five-figure price tag was too high for this valuable domain name.

A National Arbitration Forum panelist has denied Property Tax Partners, LP, LLP’s attempt to get the valuable domain name PTP.com through a UDRP. The company uses the domain property-tax-partners.com.

The domain name is currently registered to FCSE in Illinois. The Respondent claims it acquired the domain name in 1998. It’s difficult to validate this through historical Whois records, although all registrants since 2001 are in Illinois, and the Complainant didn’t argue that the domain wasn’t registered that long ago.

Panelist Dennis Foster found the domain wasn’t registered in bad faith because the ownership date is before the Complainant’s trademark rights in PTP.

According to the Complainant, the Respondent asked for a high five-figure price for the domain name when the Complainant inquired about it. The Complainant apparently offered only $1,000. Anything under $100,000 seems like a solid deal for this domain name to me.

I’m a bit surprised that the panelist didn’t consider reverse domain name hijacking as a “Plan B” case.
