Cumulus Networks Partners with Hewlett Packard Enterprise to Deliver Open Storage Networking Platforms for the Modern Data Center: Cumulus Networks has partnered with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE:HPE), a leader in enterprise information technology, to bring open, highly automated and scalable storage networking solutions to rapidly expanding data centers. As of today, HPE’s StoreFabric M-Series Ethernet Switches will run Cumulus Linux and NetQ, delivering a flexible networking fabric that is predictable, scalable and reliable. With the continued growth of data and companies taking advantage of new technologies such as AI, 5G and IoT, businesses need more options to handle the new demands being placed on the network. These performance intensive applications require high performance, all-flash storage infrastructure with deeper levels of automation and they need a networking solution to match, which legacy storage networking solutions simply can’t provide. Together, Cumulus and HPE are providing organizations with the only open, fully automated and high-performance storage networking fabric needed in today’s modern data center.

Anana Deploys Pluribus Networks for Multi-Site Data Center Modernization: Anana, the leading provider of omnichannel customer experience solutions, has deployed Pluribus’ Netvisor ONE operating system and Adaptive Cloud Fabric, along with Dell EMC Open Networking hardware, as part of a multi-site network modernization project. Anana’s mission is ensuring that businesses can engage with customers more efficiently than ever before. Anana’s network team realized that delivering on this promise to its diverse customers required a high-performance, highly automated infrastructure to unify its two data centers and enable more agile service delivery. They needed to be able to see traffic flows from across the entire network in order to be faster in identifying and responding to troubleshooting issues. Finally, they required deep network slicing across the control, management and data planes to segment application and customer traffic.

Data Theorem Earns Cloud Computing Security Excellence Award: Data Theorem has announced that TMC, a global, integrated media company, has named its API security solutions as 2019 Cloud Computing Security Excellence Award winners. The Cloud Computing Security Excellence Awards, presented by Cloud Computing magazine last month, recognize companies in two distinct categories that have most effectively leveraged cloud computing in their efforts to bring new, differentiated offerings to market. For years, one of the chief causes of delay or even rejection of cloud migration has been security. Select products and services keeping cloud infrastructure and applications secure have also been presented with Cloud Security Excellence Awards. Data Theorem’s API Discover and API Inspect address security concerns such as Shadow APIs, Serverless Applications, and API Gateway cross-check validation by conducting continuous security assessments on API authentication, authorization, encryption, availability, cloud storage, databases, serverless functions, and policy compliance. The API security solutions support Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure to discover modern APIs and to enumerate the specification using standards such as Swagger and Open API 3.0.
- TIM Sets New European Record for 5G Speed: In a first for Europe, TIM’s 26 Ghz network has achieved a speed of over 2 Gbps in a commercial network. This event marks the first usage of the 200 MHz of the 26 Ghz spectrum that the company acquired from Italian regulator MiSE in 2018, as well as an additional 200Mhz available to them as part of the spectrum auction’s innovative ‘club use’ clauses. These speeds could be just the tip of the iceberg for TIM’s network, which will see its available bandwidth increase to 800 MHz and 1,000 MHz in 2020. TIM used a standard 3GPP Non-Stand Alone (NSA) solution that allows devices and network components from different providers to interact and aggregate TIM’s 4G and 5G network, already implemented in 3.7 GHz spectrum. This record joins the company’s collection of connectivity achievements, having recorded the first 5G connection in all of Italy in 2017, as well as the first 5G videocall in Europe in 2018.
- NTT DOCOMO and MobiledgeX Demonstrate Worldwide Distribution of 5G Applications in Japan: NTT DOCOMO, INC. and MobiledgeX will jointly conduct a proof of concept in Tokyo on January 22–24, 2020 to verify a solution that leverages multi-access edge computing for the worldwide distribution of applications. With the era of fifth-generation (5G) mobile communications approaching fast, DOCOMO will collaborate with MobiledgeX to help a variety of partners distribute innovative 5G solutions worldwide. MobiledgeX’s solution offers a developer portal site for distributing applications to MEC infrastructure, such as servers and storage systems, located on the edges of mobile operator networks that are close to customers in markets overseas. Developers, device manufacturers and other technology partners with stringent performance and data-governance needs will be able to distribute their applications quickly and easily worldwide, without having to confirm usage conditions or system availability in each operator’s MEC infrastructure, respectively.
