DC BLOX Expands Myrtle Beach Data Center and Cable Landing Station

As reported by WBTW News13 in Myrtle Beach, SC, DC BLOX, a data center and cable landing station operator, is expanding its existing Cable Landing Station (CLS) which went live last year in  South Carolina. The company recently received approval from the local council to purchase an additional 21 acres of land next to its current facility for around $2.7 million.

The new facility will include four more submarine cables, bringing the total to nine once both the current and new facilities are fully operational.

This expansion is driven by growing demand from customers, including major tech companies like Google and Meta, who have already reserved capacity at the existing CLS.

Bill Thomson, VP of Marketing at DC BLOX, stated that the Myrtle Beach location has become a key digital hub on the East Coast, providing a landing point for transatlantic data cables.

The additional land and subsequent subsea cables will allow DC BLOX to further increase the region’s data transmission capacity and serve more enterprises and consumers in the area.

Construction on the new facility is expected to begin in about a year, with operations starting within two to three years.

This expansion demonstrates DC BLOX’s commitment to strengthening the digital infrastructure in the Myrtle Beach region.
