Lightpath Expands into Atlanta with High-Capacity Managed Bandwidth Services

Atlanta has emerged as one of the fastest-growing data center markets in the country, with enterprises and hyperscalers requiring greater capacity to support AI workloads, cloud interconnection and large-scale data movement.

Lightpath is expanding its network footprint to meet that demand, entering the Greater Atlanta market with high-capacity Managed Bandwidth services across 30 data center campuses.

The expansion brings Lightpath’s Wavelength and IP Transit services to Atlanta-area customers, with capacity ranging from 10 Gbps to 800 Gbps per wavelength. Aggregate system capacity can scale into multi-terabit configurations, providing the high-capacity optical transport required by increasingly bandwidth-intensive workloads.

The new market also extends the reach of Lightpath’s national backbone. Lightpath operates a long-haul network hub in Atlanta with connections to New York, Philadelphia, Ashburn, Chicago, Dallas and Miami. High-capacity managed connectivity is delivered over 100% underground fiber infrastructure to the 30 data center campuses served in the Atlanta market.

The Atlanta expansion is part of Lightpath’s broader metro expansion strategy, focused on entering and densifying major U.S. economic markets. It also strengthens the company’s presence in a market that is becoming increasingly important to AI and cloud growth.

For organizations operating within Atlanta’s growing data center ecosystem, the combination of local data center connectivity and access to Lightpath’s long-haul backbone provides a way to scale optical transport as workload requirements increase.
