Squarespace upgrades domain platform after Google Domains acquisition

Company adds domain forwarding, email forwarding, and bulk management.

Squarespace (NYSE: SQSP) announced upgrades to its domain name platform today.

The company completed the acquisition of Google’s domain name business last month, instantly making it a top 5 domain name registrar.

However, its domain platform was built for people using its site-building system, so the company is improving the platform to help people who manage multiple domain names.

Customers can now forward their domain name and set up free email forwarding. They can also perform updates to multiple domains at a time.

While these are basic features at most domain name registrars, it was critical for Squarespace to quickly add them as it welcomes millions of more domain names on its platform.

The company is also adding new domains, including .nz and .fr.

Squarespace is also offering lower first-year prices for some of its domains to match Google Domains’ $12 price point. New .com, .net and .org domains are $12 for the first year but renew at $20.
