Balkan Insight is part of the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network that was established in 2004 as a network of non-governmental organizations “promoting freedom of speech, human rights and democratic values” in Southern and Eastern Europe.
The online publication operated the domain Balkans.com for many years but something changed in early 2017, providing regional information about the Balkans.
The domain’s content disappeared, a temporary notice appeared, and the domain was moved away from an account located in the Republic of Serbia and into WHOIS privacy.
Surprisingly, the domain’s content eventually changed to coffee beans, by forwarding to the domain BeanAndLeaf.net. To this day, that domain appears to be associated with Balkans.com but somehow the latter expired and dropped.
It was promptly picked by DropCatch, where it’s being auctioned. It is expected to hit five figures as a major geographical region in southern Europe.
