Demat.com closed at $57,000 at GoDaddy on Saturday. Wikipedia states that Demat (short for “dematerialized account”) is an account to hold financial securities (equity or debt) in electronic form. In India, demat accounts are maintained by two depository organisations, National Securities Depository Limited and Central Depository Services Limited. A depository participant, such as a bank, acts as an intermediary between the investor and the depository.
There are a few companies using the word Demat in their domain name on the first page of Google. WeDemat.com, OpenDemat.com, DematCompany.com.
Ahrefs shows 1078 links but a Domain Authority of just 8. So this was not really an expired link play to justify that closing price. InstaWidget.net closed at $54,500 and had over 6million backlinks.
The other name that I found interesting Saturday was OceanClub.com going for $9,750 at NameJet. So many domains and businesses out there with Ocean Club in the name. OceanClub is registered in 37 extensions according to DotDB.com. Then there are another 680 domains out there using the two words in their domain name. A fair number of Trademarks on the term as well with a few being exact match.
