Sedo is running a two letter domain name auction that continues through Thursday, January 27.

It will be interesting to see where the market for these short domains is, and the auction will give us some good data.

At the high end, five two letter .com domains are up for grabs: .vn, .cu, .sy, .tz, and .qo. All of these names have reserves between $1 million and $1.5 million. According to NameBio, three two letter .com domains sold last year: iz.com for $625,000, ee.com for $1,350,000, and is.com for $1,950,000. I wouldn’t be surprised to see at least one of the two letter .com domains sell, although I wouldn’t classify them as bargains, either.

There are also a bunch of other top level domains among the 397 domains on auction. Two letter domains in new top level domains can sell for under a few hundred dollars (and watch out for premium renewals), but there are some solid country code domains in the mix that might sell for more. For example, two letter .de domains generally sell for five figures.

Some domains have already hit their reserves as of Thursday evening, including pp.org ($9,999), nx.uk (£2,499), en.eu (€2,550), and many priced below $1,000.
