GoDaddy capped off 2021 with a strong Q4 but tempers expectations for this year.

GoDaddy released Q4 and full-year 2021 financials yesterday.

For the year, revenue increased 15% to $3.82 billion. The company ended the year strong with a 17% year-over-year revenue increase in Q4.

The domains business was particularly strong in Q4, reporting 24% year-over-year growth. The primarily credits the domain aftermarket for the growth, saying it contributed nearly two-thirds of the growth. It also credited strong renewals and registrations and GoDaddy Registry for part of the lift. (GoDaddy Registry was formed when the company acquired Neustar’s domain business in August 2020, so some of this revenue growth was not organic.)

GoDaddy’s other two divisions experienced slower revenue growth: Business Applications was up 18% for the year and Hosting & Presence nudged up 7%.

The company expects slower growth in 2022, citing the outperformance of 2021 that was aided by the Covid-induced acceleration in digital adoption. It forecasts full-year revenue between $4.140 billion and $4.160 billion, up 9% at the midpoint.
